26 members of our team as well as a couple of Realmark friends came together on Saturday and Sunday to keep the Realmark bike spinning as part of the 2019 HBF Fitness Challenge for Telethon. Now that’s teamwork!

For 24 hours, our team pedalled away to raise money for the annual Telethon fundraiser, donating a total of $5,208 to the charity.

This year the HBF Fitness Challenge raised $275,000, $75,000 more than 2018’s record number. This contributed to Telethon’s record-breaking $42,596,034 which will be divided up between 51 worthy beneficiaries, to benefit the children and families who are facing extremely difficult challenges in Western Australia.

This year, there were a record of 12 soloists, 1 duo and 11 companies participating in the challenge, with all soloists and teams flying over the finish line after 24 hours on the bike.

A very special acknowledgement and congratulations to Realmark’s Adam Gilbert, who rode as part of a duo – alternating each hour with his teammate and friend, Dave Mulcaster. Adam Gilbert and his wife, Emma spent the whole 24 hours at the Perth Convention Centre as they do every year in support of the charity and their very own miracle granddaughter, Sienna.

“Gratitude is my driver. We can all complain about our circumstances or how the day is unfolding, or how the traffic lights are always red – however, when you have experienced how precious life is and that it is a gift, you start to shift your perspective. All the challenges are nothing more than building blocks to a great life; they prepare us for what is to come.” Adam said.

“Children teach us love, how to be authentic, how to remain humble and above all how to have fun - which was clearly demonstrated over the weekend.

“For me the 24-hour ride will come and go however there are people of all ages that are less fortunate than me.”

Justin Baker, Realmark’s Chief Operating Officer saw an opportunity to form a team to ride alongside Adam in support of his cause and for a charity that has given so much to the Western Australian community.

“It’s humbling to see the team jump at the opportunity to show their support, filling all 24 slots in just a number of days. It really is a reflection of our team, their support and their commitment to giving back to the community.” Said Justin.

“I would like to personally thank our team and all of those who donated to the Telethon cause. Realmark looks forward to returning to the bike next year and hope we can exceed this year’s target with even more participants.”
